Our team is interested in the mechanisms regulating blood cell fate during normal development or in pathological conditions such as leukemia or infection. In particular, we use Drosophila as a model system to investigate how blood cell progenitors are specified and how their maintenance is controlled. Notably, we aim at characterizing the different blood cell populations present in Drosophila at different stages of development and at defining the molecular signature and long term potential of Drosophila hematopoietic progenitors. An other aspect of our work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of action of conserved transcription factors implicated in hematopoiesis and leukemia, such as members of the GATA and RUNX families, and we try to define how they control blood cell programming and/or reprogramming.
